Abstract
This study analyzes the film Raise the Red Lantern as a case to explore the application and significant role of color in cinema. By examining the construction of color tones, the correlation between color and emotional tone, the role of color in shaping characters and driving narrative clues, as well as how visual symbols signify meaning, it reveals the unique value and far-reaching influence of color in film art. Color is not only a core element of film visual communication but also an important bridge connecting the film and the audience, profoundly affecting viewers’ understanding and perception of the film’s content.
